Key Requirements and Qualities for This Role
We’re looking for a newly qualified Gibraltar-qualified Barrister or Solicitor.
You should possess:
- Strong Work Ethic & Ownership: A high standard of work ethic, ensuring accuracy and timely completion of tasks. You’ll be self-driven and eager to take ownership of tasks, managing your workload effectively in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and tight deadlines.
- Foundational Legal Knowledge: A solid grasp of relevant legislation and industry standards, with a strong commitment to continuous professional development and staying abreast of legal and industry changes.
- Developing Legal Skills: Strong analytical, drafting, negotiation, and research abilities. You’ll be required to assist in drafting and reviewing meticulous legal documents such as agreements, applications, pleadings, and correspondence.
- Litigation Support: We welcome individuals interested in litigation in our key sectors. This includes assisting with court appearances, summary trials, complex civil claims, and attending case management/pre-trial hearings before Gibraltar Courts and tribunals.
- Client-Centric Approach: A keen interest in understanding clients’ businesses, combined with excellent interpersonal skills to build rapport and trust. You must be able to handle highly confidential information, deliver high levels of customer service, and assist in tailoring advice and solutions for both Gibraltar and international clients.
- Developing Commercial Acumen: The ability to apply legal knowledge, effective research, and developing commercial judgement to advise and support clients. This includes assisting with implementing advice, liaising where necessary with other departments and overseas counsel, and supporting commercial strategy while managing legal risks.
- Team Integration & Learning: A positive team player who is eager to learn, support workstreams on transactions, and collaborate effectively with colleagues across various departments to deliver integrated legal solutions.
- Organisational Prowess: Excellent organisational, time, project, and diary management skills.
